Interesting

Closer to beef bouillon in taste than I would have imagined. I'm surprised people put it on sandwiches

Marmite 😋

I love be the product so I knew that would not be an issue but I was worried about it getting stuck at customs etc but it was fine. It did take a while to be dispatched and arrive, maybe 10 days so if it’s a necessity order before you run out!

Not a frequent flyer and travelling with only hand luggage, I once tried to bring a jar of Marmite through Gatwick security. I even put it in one of those little ziplock bags. (How I thought 250 g of sticky goo was within the allowed quota, is a mystery lost to the ages). The security personell took a generous amount of time, probably determined to teach me a lesson. Finally one of them came over, and in his strictest voice asked «Are you a Marmite fan, sir?» I stutteringly admitted to being one, even though I had only ever eaten one jar if it. «Well, bad news then…»

Only recently, I came across British Essentials, which is some welcome GOOD news, as I can now get as much Marmite as I want, at any time. It is still unlike anything else I have tasted, plus the jar looks fantastic on my kitchen shelf! Note that the slightest trace of the stuff on the threads can seemingly cement the lid in place, but this is easily solved by running some lucid tap water over it. All in all the product is inimitable, and I will order again - yes, I am indeed a Marmite fan!

Marmite review?

Not much to say really is there, you either love it or, well the other is not worth thinking about. I used to live in an Aussie community in Paris and used to never understand how they could say that Vegemite is better than Marmite. Just had a trip down under and discovered that the product they have which is called Marmite (has the trademark there I guess) is a disgusting black tar. They do have proper Marmite but it's in the niche international section of the supermarket in tiny jars, and it's called "Our Mate".
